Excellent concept
Ive been playing this for some time now, and it definitely has staying power. Im actually quite grateful for how easy it is to end a game and return to the main menu, though, since I can usually tell within one or two moves whether the board has potential for a good score or not.
A few suggestions:
1. A letter distribution algorithm which takes relative frequency into account - I once ended up with 7 Qs and 5 Zs on the board, which makes for rather difficult play.
2. Perhaps a Qu dot instead of just Q? It could still be scored as a single letter, but would make it easier to get Qs off the board.
3. A couple of once-per-game bonus moves such as remove all dots of one color or swap all letters (leaving colors in place).
Any of these would remove some of the gameplay frustrations and add some unpredictability without dumbing down the core of the game.
